Definition:

Clients counseled and were confident they knew how to determine if their abortion was complete.

 

Purpose:

Quality abortion care requires a person-centered approach to services; clients who receive information and support about abortion completeness suggests effective communication from the site, that the client participated in their abortion care, and was prepared for the abortion process.

Justification for Inclusion:

Statistical association with client outcomes

 

Quality Threshold:

A point of service is considered as meeting this indicator’s quality threshold if 90% of clients report feeling prepared to determine when their abortion was complete.

 

Data Sources:

  • For health facilities in which medical abortion clients are passing the pregnancy outside of the center: Health Facility Client Exit Interview question HF123
  • For pharmacies: Pharmacy Client Exit Interview question PH117
  • For hotlines: Hotline Client Exit Interview question HL118

 

Details:

For health facility clients passing the pregnancy outside of the facility and all pharmacy and hotlines clients, the proportion of clients answering with response option 1 to question HF124/PH117/HL118
